Project: Philippine Marine Corp Combat Engineering Battalion Water Desalination Training
Client: Philippine Marine Corp Combat Engineering Batallion
Product: Kendra 360 6S Water Desalinator
Location: Marine Battalion Landing Team 10, Sitio Burubur, brgy. Magapit lal-lo, Cagayan
Participants: 30 marine personnel
Project Objective:
- To familiarize the participants with the Kendra 360 6S Water Desalinator with its different parts, use, function, operation, trouble shooting and proper maintenance.
- To equip the participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively operate and maintain the Kendra 360 6S Water Desalinator.
- To conduct a comprehensive hands-on practical training to the Philippine Marines’ end-users of the two (2) Kendra 360 6S Water Desalinators deployed in Cagayan Valley.
- To operate the Kendra 360 6S Water Desalinator in the field in ground water and seawater conditions to evaluate its performance, effectiveness, and adaptability in tough
environment.
Project Overview:
The first day of training commenced at 0800H with a PowerPoint presentation of the Kendra 360 6S Water Desalinator. It gave an overview of the desalination unit and its different parts, details, and functions. It covered the operation of the desalination equipment, the use of the power converter, the multiple filters, accessories, and water pump system. The portable generator set was discussed as well as the solar power system. Trouble shooting was explained and the periodic maintenance service.
After the theoretical introduction, the experiential operation of the Kendra 360 6S followed. The participants were paired into two and were tasked to do hands-on exercises until they were all proficient in operating the water desalinator. The second day of training took place in a shoreline in Sta. Ana, Aparri. The Kendra 360 6S was tested using the sea as its water source. The objective was to operate the unit in the real setting where it will actually be utilized. The participants successfully purified 10 gallons of safe drinking water from the sea which they tasted and drank. After which, the participants went back to the Marine base for a first hand experience of flushing the unit as part of its periodic maintenance and other protocols for the proper maintenance of the Kendra 360 6S.
